The Sun Coast Transportation Planning Alliance (SCTPA) works as a region to prepare plans, studies, and priorities for regionally significant projects, review the impact of significant land-use decisions, share current travel data and trends, and adopt regional transportation plans and priorities for highway, public transportation, and multi-use trail improvements.
As the region stands to see continued growth in population, economy and travel, the SCTPA will provide sound, forward-thinking transit and transportation options to support this growth and a sustainable future for our region.

The Sun Coast Transportation Planning Alliance is governed by elected officials representing the six Metropolitan Planning Organizations who support local, regional and statewide projects that improve access to transportation opportunities in the West Central Florida region. This is achieved through bodies of representatives from the six MPO areas who lead the SCTPA to provide sound, forward-thinking transit and transportation options that help promote and sustain continued regional growth.
TMA LEADERSHIP GROUP
A subcommittee of the SCTPA, the Transportation Management Area Leadership Group focuses on the Tampa Bay Transportation Management Area (TMA), which is the tri-county urbanized core of the region. Comprised of three representatives each from the Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco County MPO & TPO boards, the Tampa Bay TMA Leadership Group meets regularly to develop consensus on regional transportation priorities for the Tampa Bay TMA.
One Region, One Voice
The transportation investment decisions we make today will have a direct impact on the future safety, prosperity, health, and happiness of our region’s residents, businesses, and visitors.
Long Range Plan
LRTP directs federal and state dollars toward transportation investments we value in our communities.
Transportation Funding Priorities
Priorities are coordinated plans agreed on as a region for an integrated, multimodal regional network.
Rapid transit is essential in fast-growing regions like ours, providing an alternative to congested highways.
The Sun Coast Transportation Planning Alliance was established in 1993 and it is the longest-standing regional transportation planning compact among MPOs in the State of Florida.
